A Joyful Start to a Lifelong Love of Learning
At Springfield Convent School, our Preschool offers a nurturing, play-based environment where every pupil begins her learning journey with joy, curiosity and care. We focus on social development, early literacy and a sense of wonder, helping each child grow in confidence while laying the foundation for a lifetime of learning.
Preschool / Curriculum
Play-based learning is an educational approach that uses play as the central method for children to explore, discover and make sense of the world around them.
In play-based learning children engage in activities that are fun, self-directed and meaningful, while educators guide and extend their learning through intentional interactions, questions and resources. It blends free play (child-initiated) with guided play (teacher-supported) to promote growth across developmental areas.
Our school day is thoughtfully structured to support learning, routine and wellbeing. Classes run from the morning into the early afternoon, with supervised care available before and after school.

Beyond the classroom, Springfield’s pre-school activities inspire creativity, confidence and curiosity. From sports to arts, each experience is designed to nurture the whole child — building friendships, skills and joyful memories along the way.
Hands on and creative, Pottery helps little ones explore shape, texture, and imagination while strengthening fine motor skills in a fun, tactile environment.
Through playful drills and gentle coaching, tennis players are introduced to the basics of tennis, developing coordination, balance, and a love for movement.
Learning through play is at the center of our daily program and all teachable moments are seized to demonstrate kindness and to stand up for every individual’s right to be treated with dignity and respect.
We teach the children to be caring and considerate of others, so that everyone feels welcome and included. We all strive to be honest, courageous and forgiving.
The 4 Dominican pillars of prayer, study, community and service and the Springfield values of respect, compassion, responsibility, integrity and service are taught incidentally throughout each day.
Children are encouraged to be self-confident, independent, to cherish their imagination and creativity, to demonstrate perseverance and determination and to love learning.
We are developing inquiring minds and critical thinkers for the 21st Century.
Onsite learning support specialists are available, if necessary, to assist the children to perform to the best of their ability
