QUEST is our overarching pedagogical approach, built on the principles of Project-Based Learning (PBL) and STEAM education. It is guided by foundational learning tools such as Thinking Maps and Bloom’s Taxonomy. Our school day is thoughtfully structured to support learning, routine and wellbeing. Classes run from the morning into the early afternoon, with supervised care available before and after school.

Project Based Learning

(PBL)

Project-Based Learning is a teaching method where pupils gain knowledge and skills by working for an extended period to investigate and respond to a complex question, problem, or challenge. Instead of simply memorizing facts from the CAPS curriculum, pupils apply the content in a practical, hands-on way. This pedagogy encourages inquiry and allows pupils to deepen their understanding by exploring real-world issues and creating meaningful projects.

Bloom's Taxonomy

Bloom’s Taxonomy provides our pupils with the vocabulary to think in a higher order, helping them move beyond simple recall to more complex cognitive skills. The levels progress from remembering and understanding to applying, analyzing, evaluating, and creating, empowering pupils to articulate and engage with their thinking processes.

Thinking Maps

Thinking Maps are a set of eight visual tools designed to help pupils organise and structure their thoughts. These maps provide a visual structure to develop thinking, helping pupils to clarify their ideas, communicate their thoughts more effectively, and improve their cognitive skills.
