Ethos
Springfield Convent is a Cabra Dominican School which celebrates and acknowledges its South African identity.
Our Ethos is rooted in Veritas—Truth that is not merely learned, but lived and shared as a gift. “Veritas” may not answer our many questions, but it compels us to search for answers, and promises us that “You will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.” (John 8:32)
In the Dominican charism/spirit, students are formed through the four Dominican Pillars: Prayer, Study, Community, and Service, allowing them to flourish within an environment of holistic growth built on Gospel values.
Prayer:keeps us grounded in our faith or in what is most meaningful, and guides our life’s purpose.
Study: keeps us growing in knowledge and truth, honing our minds and hearts for ethical leadership.
Community: forms us to live, work and play in harmony, each fulfilling our diverse roles in a culture of care.
Service: impels us to share our time, talent and treasure toward building a more just, peaceful and equitable society.
Mission
Education for the whole person
At Springfield, we value the uniqueness and importance of each individual. We view education as an integrated journey, one that nurtures the spiritual, intellectual, physical and social development of every pupil. Our aim is to help each child realise their full potential and take their place confidently and responsibly in society.
Vision
Rooted in tradition, shaping the future
Dominican schools aim to provide forward-looking education of the highest quality, grounded in a tradition of over eight hundred years of commitment to learning. We nurture the whole person, mind, body, and spirit, fostering a lifelong love of learning, a passion for truth and a deep sense of compassion and service. Our schools encourage respect for diverse cultures and religious values, inspiring young people to lead with integrity, seek reconciliation and live out a vibrant faith shaped by the Word of God and a profound commitment to Christ.
Missie
